He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Paulson (Wells); his parents, Erhard Paulson and Olga Paulson (Carlson); and his daughter Kathleen E. Paulson. He is survived by: his children, Christopher Paulson (Fran) of Rockfall and Deborah Kulpik (John) of Middlefield; his grandchildren, Nico, Kiyah Kulpik, Alex and Luke Paulson; his sister-in-law June Paulson; his nieces and nephews, Heidi Abbott (Al) of Portland, Eloise Ebbighausen (Harry), Paul Paulson and Jon Paulson; and his great-nephew Joshua Abbott.
