He was predeceased by: his parents, Nettie Mae Gardner and William H. Hammick, Sr.; his former wife Joyce Hammick (Lindelof); his brothers, Harold L. Hammick and David A. Hammick, Sr.; his stepdaughter Faith Merriman; and his son-in-law Craig Cilley.

He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Merriman Hammick; his children, Kenneth W. Hammick (Tanya) of Portland, William H Hammick III (Joyce) of Southington, Kim Cilley of Waite, ME, Kathleen Leighton of Princeton, ME, Karen Barbato (Giuseppe) of Plantsville and Brenda Hammick of New Britain; his daughter-in-law Violet Skrzyniarz of Cheshire; and his sister Barbara Poglitsch of South Windsor. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren.
