He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Gilmore and Georgianna Gilmore (Bazinet); his wife Virginia Lee of Osterdock, IA; his son Luke; and his sister Elaine Gersin.
He is survived by: his children, James of Bynum, MT and Mary Sokol (Steve) of Oxford, CT; his grandchildren, Steve Sokol (Aileen), Adam Sokol (Robin), John Gilmore and Jed; his great grandchildren, Stephen, Jackson, Sloane, Adam, Shane Sokol, Jayden and Madison; his nephew James Gersin; and his niece Cathy Morochnick.
