Loving husband, son, brother and uncle" Mr. Edmond J. Desjardins, 90, of the Cheshire House Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, passed away peacefully in the presence of angels on Tuesday April 3, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Sophie (Mazur) Desjardins, who he married on October 13, 1956 and she died on May 31, 1973. Edmond was born in Waterbury on March 4, 1928, son of the late Francis and Rose (Theriault) Desjardins. He graduated from Watertown High School and attended Bryant College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as Technical 4th Grade during World War II. He moved to California as an executive secretary for ARCO Petroleum and BP before his retirement. He then settled to Florida and returned to Waterbury. Edmond was the last of 13 siblings. He was predeceased by 6 brothers and 6 sisters. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Edmond is survived by 2 brothers-in law, Tony Mirto of Waterbury and John Christiano of Norwalk, a sister-in-law, Millie Desjardins of Oakville, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. Edmond had a great great niece, Madison, daughter of Stephen and Brittany (Tuttle) Mirto, who was the apple of his eyes and he called her "My Little Sweetie". He will be sadly missed by his niece Clorinda "Rindy" Mirto who assisted him until his death. Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial with his cremains present will be celebrated Friday April 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 309 South Main Street Waterbury.
