Zoltan Erdo Obituary
Zoltan Daniel Erdo, age 91 of Norwalk, Connecticut passed away on February 28, 2023. Zoltan (Zoli) is survived by his wife; Jane Erdo; his three children, Amy Portillo (Monti), Daniel Erdo (Tracey), and Liza Strong (Chris); his four grandchildren, Lydia Strong, Christopher Strong, Lilli Portillo and Jacob Erdo.
Zoli was born in South Norwalk, CT on February 20, 1932, son to the late Alex and Elizabeth Erdo who immigrated from Hungary. Zoli was fluent in Hungarian and proud of his European roots. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1951 and was a lifetime resident of Norwalk. In his youth, he enjoyed bowling and playing basketball. He also sang in the church choir and played the violin. Zoli was a Veteran who served in the Korean War from November 1952 to July 1953. He was wounded seventeen days prior to a ceasefire and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Zoli went on to marry his wife of sixty years, Jane Shaw, on January 12, 1963. His occupation was a printer until retirement. During these years, his hobbies included traveling, fishing, boating, and camping with his family. Zoli was a member of the South Norwalk Boat Club and a former member of Sprite Island Yacht Club. He was an avid UCONN Huskies basketball fan and never missed a game. Wherever Zoli went, he loved talking and getting to know people. He was a kind man and always willing to help others. He will be dearly missed, fondly remembered and will always remain in our hearts.
