Robert Maury Sachs Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Maury Sachs, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend to so many. Bob lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family at the age of 84.

Bob was born on January 4, 1939, in Boston, MA, to the late David and Miriam (Bechhoefer) Sachs. He graduated from the University of Maryland and embarked on a successful career in the textile industry.

Bob had deep and varied passions that centered around living life to its fullest and forming deep long-lasting bonds with others. Bob's most beloved interest was photography. He was a longtime member of the Rowayton Arts Center and a member of the Silvermine Guild of Artists. With his camera in hand, he traveled the world with numerous photography workshops, capturing life through his lens. His exceptional talent and artistic eye earned him numerous awards.

Bob also found balance and harmony in practicing Tai Chi, embracing its meditative and health benefits. He deeply valued the camaraderie of his Tai Chi family where he formed lifelong friendships. Robert also enjoyed golfing with his buddies and his sons at Oaks Hills Golf Course. Each year, he and his regular foursome took a weekend golf trip that also became a regular weekly poker group. In his younger years, Bob was an avid sailor, frequently competing in Wednesday Night Races in Long Island Sound. The Sachs family spent many adventurous summers sailing on Long Island Sound, including Block Island and the NYC harbor.

Bob's greatest pride and joy was his family. He cherished his role as a husband to his wife, Dee, and together they shared a bond that was an inspiration to all. They just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on July 2nd. Robert was a constant source of love, support and wisdom to his two sons, Daniel and Jonathan. He also shared a special bond with his sister, Stephanie Levine. He encouraged his family and friends to laugh, have fun and not take life too seriously. He consistently made everyone feel special and important.

Robert Maury Sachs is survived by his loving wife, Dee Ann Sachs, his sons Daniel Sachs (Alison) and Jonathan Sachs, his sister Stephanie Levine, and many family members.

His family will receive friends on Thursday July 13th, from 4-7 pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk, CT. Robert will be laid to rest on Friday July 14th, 12 noon, at St. Johns Cemetery 223 Richards Ave. Norwalk, CT. The family is also planning a celebration of life to honor Robert at a later time. Details to be shared.
