Richard Joseph Trudel Obituary
Richard J. Trudel, 93, husband of the late Clare Kenlon Trudel, died on July3, 2023 peacefully from natural causes. Born in Somersworth New Hampshire on February 18, 1930, the son of the late Evangelist and Almeda (Poiree) Trudel, he was predeceased by his son Kevin Anthony Trudel and triplet daughters, Suzanne, Jane, and Maureen Trudel.
Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953. He was stationed at Ft. Bliss located in Central El Paso, Texas known as the Armored Division during the Korean war. He was selected as a candidate for Officers Training and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. Following commission, Richard was transferred to the 773rd Anticraft Artillery Gun Battalion in N.Y N.Y where he served as the AA Gun 1 Unit Commander. It was here that he earned the National Defense Service Medal.
Richard met Clare at a USO dance while serving in the military and was married on June 16, 1956. Upon discharge from the service, Richard graduated from the University of Bridgeport with a Degree in Accounting. He pursued this field until retirement.
Richard and Clare were married for 57 years prior to Clare's passing. They raised five children together, Kevin (deceased) and his wife Elaine, Mary Trudel Leone, and her husband Dr. Donald J. Leone, Rev. Mr. Gregory J. Trudel and his wife Teri, Kathleen Trudel King, and Julia Trudel Watson and her husband Douglas. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday July 7 at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave, Norwalk. In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Richard's honor be made to St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd, Norwalk. In your kindness, please remember the soul of Richard in your prayers.
