Pasquale Calderone Obituary
Pasquale "Pat" Calderone (90) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 24, 2024 in Norwalk, Connecticut after a long illness. Pat was born on December 30, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Domenico and Maria (Nastasi) Calderone and was raised in Pace Del Mela, Sicily. He returned to the United States when he was 18 years old, and was later joined by his loving sister, Carmela and her husband, Andrea Urdi.
Pat is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Teresa, and their son, Michael (daughter-in-law Emily) and grandson, Thomas Calderone of Stamford, Connecticut. Pat also has two other sons, Domenic and Anthony as well as additional grandchildren, Krista, Cheryl, Domenic, Jenni, Laura, Emily, and Alex, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving and devoted sister Carmela and her late husband Andrea Urdi as well as their children, Vincent and Maria. Additionally, Pat is survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, the late Mary and Bob Kustka, Edward and Becky McLaughlin of Quincy, Massachusetts, Kathleen and William Stuart of Milton, Massachusetts, and Elizabeth and Stephen Gedney of Hingham, Massachusetts as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pat loved everything about sports, especially the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He was an avid bowler who loved playing in the Milton Bowling League and enjoyed many long walks around Castle Island with usually a hot dog or ice cream in hand while watching the planes and ships go by. Pat enjoyed all things Italian, especially good Italian food and music. He loved it so much that Lou Monte's songs will forever be called "Nonno's songs.". A devoted family man, Pat loved Sunday dinners at his sister Carmela's house, recalling old stories from Sicily and South Boston, summer vacations on Cape Cod, and hosting family barbecues and swims at his home in Milton.
In addition to devoting his time to his beloved family, Pat worked as a dry cleaner and Plant Manager at Daloz Cleaners, later named Hudson Services, first in Boston and later in Providence, Rhode Island. Teresa always said that Pat was the hardest working man she ever met as he always worked two jobs (sometimes three) his entire life, working until March 2020 at the age of 87. He probably would have continued to work if a global pandemic had not closed the plant and forced his retirement. Pat truly was a remarkable man. He was loved and respected by all who were lucky enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed.
Per Pat's wishes, there will be no visitation. A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Pat may be made to either ElderHouse, Inc., 7 Lewis Street, Norwalk, Connecticut 06851 (https://elderhouse.org) or to Notre Dame Health and Rehabilitation Center, 76 W Rocks Road, Norwalk, Connecticut 06851 (https://ndhrehab.org).
