Lee G. Seymour Obituary

Lee Gordon Seymour, born on March 19, 1932, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024. Lee was a husband, a son, a father, a pop-pop, a brother, an uncle, a godfather, a cousin, a dog father, a coach and a friend.

Once a Marine, always a Marine, Lee was a proud Korean War Veteran serving from March 1951 to March 1954. Lee was an active member of the Mahackemo Detachment, of the Marine Corps League. One of Lee's fondest memories was serving as the 2014 Grand Marshall of the Norwalk Memorial Day Parade.

Lee was a key member of the 1948 Norwalk High School State Championship Football Team – something of which he continuously reminded his family of. Lee was a three sport athlete at Norwalk High School and coach of numerous baseball and softball teams in Norwalk Recreational Leagues. In 1998, he was inducted into the Norwalk Old Timers Club. Lee, and his daughter Stephanie, are one of the only father/daughter combinations inducted.

Lee owned his own business for many years. He was a builder in our local communities. Lee built many of the original houses in the Wolfpit area, in Saugatuck Shores and along with his father-in-law, he built the original Stew Leonard's Dairy Store.

Some of Lee's favorite things to do were vacationing in Maine and Rhode Island, celebrating holidays with his extended family and friends, ice skating on Woods Pond, fishing, playing cards with the boys, his daily stop at Country Convenience and cheering on the UCONN Huskies. He never received a scratch-off lottery ticket that he didn't appreciate.

Lee was the son of the late Lillian and A. Norman Seymour, and predeceased by Gene, Norman, Russell and Lois. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gaye Seymour; children, Melissa, Michael, Stephanie and Dana Seymour and his grandchildren Olivia, Tyler and William Seymour. Lee is also survived by his older brother Alan and his sister-in-law Gloria Seymour, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Semper Fi!

His family will receive friends on Monday, September 23 from 5-8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A graveside ceremony with full military honors will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Norwalk Union Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of his favorite charities - PAWS of Norwalk, CT (PAWSct.org) or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org).
