Joseph Anthony DeYulio Obituary

Joseph Anthony DeYulio, aged 86, passed away on Feb. 20, 2025, after a long illness. He was born April 5, 1938, to Anthony and Angelina DeYulio in Stamford, CT, and was the oldest of two sons.

At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan, where he served for four years as an aircraft maintenance technician. He excelled in his duties and received an Honorable Discharge, exiting with the rank of Airman First Class.

After returning home, he met the love of his life, Rosalie Ann Calenzo, whom he married in 1964. They settled in Norwalk, CT, where they raised their three children.

Joe started his professional career at American Linen, where he discovered his natural talent for sales. Being motivated to succeed, he aggressively took on the linen industry by co-founding the New England Linen Supply Company, which he grew to great success. This success allowed him to pursue his passion for boating.

He was a licensed deep-sea captain and spent every minute he could on the water. Over the years, as his business flourished, the boats grew larger and the adventures greater—taking his family on countless, unforgettable trips throughout the Northeast waterways and islands of the Atlantic Ocean.

After losing his beloved wife, Rosalie, to cancer, he sold his business, which afforded him the ability to retire early. He moved to a private island in Florida, where he built a beautiful house and lived a life of luxury. There, his days were filled with sunshine, fishing, endless excursions on his precious Grand Banks, and the tranquility of island life. A true islander, Joe often joked that he was proud to have "not worn socks for 15 years!".

Joe was a loving father and grandfather. He never let a moment pass without expressing his affection with words like, "I love you," "You're beautiful," and "You're wonderful.". His love for his family was boundless.

After becoming ill, he moved back to Connecticut, where he lived with his daughter, Lisa, and then with his daughter, Dayna, until his passing.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalie Ann DeYulio, and his brother, Barry DeYulio.

He is survived by his daughter, Dayna L. Chyung (Mark Turlis) of Waterbury, CT; his daughter, Lisa B. (John) Bassett of Milford, CT; his son, Joseph P. DeYulio of Norwalk, CT; and his grandsons, Jack T. Bassett, Joseph W. Bassett, and Anthony J. DeYulio.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial following at St. John's Cemetery.
