John Anthony Albano Obituary

John Anthony Albano, 85, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away in the comfort of is home on Monday, December 2, 2024. He was surrounded by his beloved wife Lucy, married for 53 years, and their four loving children, Madeline, Joann, Enza and John.

John was born on March 26, 1939 in Tufo, Italy to the late Giovanni and Maddalena (Colacchio) Albano. John immigrated to Bridgeport, CT in his early teen years, with his mother and two sisters. Sadly, his father died during World War II when John was just 5 years old of age. It was apparent, that the war and the tragedies that he and his family experienced, wore greatly on him as he spoke often of these throughout his life. These circumstances may have had a part in shaping him at an early age to be the determined, highly motivated, dedicated family man with a tremendous work ethic. John was a loving son to his mother, a caring brother, and a very, very loving husband and father who was strongly devoted to his wife and children.

John was proud of his Italian Heritage, and becoming an American citizen. He finished his schooling in the United States, worked for the US Postal Service, and served proudly in the US Army. He was stationed in El Paso, Texas, and then eventually transferred to Fairbanks, Alaska where he studied Radar Engineering. You can see the pride he had when sharing the stories of his time in the military. John, worked thereafter as a Construction Superintendent, for the same company for over 30 years. After he retired at the age of 65, he was a realtor and managed properties. He was a proud member of the Connecticut Carpenter's Union, Local #210.

John married the love of his life, Lucy Sciarretta, on April 24, 1971. He had 4 loyal and loving children. He was an amazing husband and father, who would do anything for them. He was a proud family man, with a love so strong, building their family home that he designed and built from the ground up, for them to have only the best. He would not have it any other way. He was a humble man and truly content with spending time with his wife and children. He loved family gatherings with all his extended family and in-laws. He went to church every Sunday, loved to garden, enjoyment of playing soccer in his 20s and 30s, hunting, watching westerns, country music and the biggest hobby that he loved the most was making homemade wine for over 40 years. He loved to share his wine with others and everyone would agree it was delicious.

John is survived by his wife Lucy, his 4 children, his daughter Madeline D'Agostini and her husband Craig, his daughter Joann Koenig and her husband Daniel, his daughter Enza Albano, and his son John Albano. He has 4 grandchildren, Thomas and Olivia D'Agostini, Jack and Emily Koenig. He cherished his grandchildren so much. He always spoke to them praising their strengths. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary and her husband Mike Larocca, and Clorinda Gulino. His brother-in-law Mario Sciarretta as well as his many loving nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his father and mother, his Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Giacomo and Vincenza (Romano) Sciarretta, His sister-in-law, Teresa Sciarretta, brother-in-laws Louis, Severino, Sebastiano, Anthony, and Salvatore Sciarretta, and John Gulino. He loved them all very much.
