Jean E. Arcoite Obituary
Our sweet, sociable, and generous Jean E. (Englert) Arcoite passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023 surrounded by her family. Her strength and faith were persistent in her battle with Multiple System Atrophy, a Parkinsonian disease.
Born in Greenwich, CT on July 30, 1963 to Walter and Patricia (Crowley) Englert, Jean was showered with love by her family of eight. Jean and her twin sister Joan kept her family busy. Her childhood was spent absorbed in activities like dance and theater, where she loved being surrounded by others.
Upon graduating from Greenwich High School ('81), she attended Southern Connecticut State College, graduating with a B.S degree and Masters in Social Work ('85). A social worker at heart, her life was defined by her passion for serving others. She devoted over 20 years working as a Social Worker for the Town of Greenwich at Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home. At that time, she was also a generous caretaker of her elderly mother, while raising her three children. Jean's family was at the center of her life and she relished in writing loving letters and sharing family stories. She eagerly supported her children's school field trips, sports, and various passions. She cared for her children's friends as if they were own.
Jean was raised Catholic and found faith and strength in God which showed in many ways. She and her twin sister, Joan, were the first children baptized in St. Agnes Church in Greenwich, CT. She was an involved member of St. Matthew Church, and subsequently Northeast Community Church.
She is survived by her devoted children, Erin Arcoite, Robert Arcoite, and Brigitte Arcoite and her siblings, Mary Ellen Tufts, Eileen Teufel (Robert), Walter Englert, Jr., Barbara Cafero (Larry), her twin sister, Joan Eaton (Warren), her loving nieces and nephews, and her ex-husband Denis M. Arcoite. Jean was predeceased by her parents.
Her family is forever grateful to her caretakers and friends at Mosaic Senior Life (formerly Jewish Senior Services), where she spent the last few years of her life.
There will be a calling hour on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue Norwalk, CT. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jean's name to Mosaic Senior Life, 4200 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT, 06604 or to Multiple System Atrophy Coalition, 7918 Jones Branch Drive, Suite 300, McLean, VA 22012.
