He was predeceased by: his parents, James J. Matthews and Ethel Matthews (Anderson); and his siblings, Edward Matthews of East Norwalk, CT and Dorothy Gulbin of Glen Burnie, MD.. He is survived by: his wife Connie Marie Matthews (Testa) of Vernon, CT; his children, James J. Matthews III (Robin) of Manchester, CT and Bonnie Muller of Woodbury, CT; his granddaughters, Jessica McGuire (Sean) of Concord, NC and Aylene Myles (Michael) of Tolland, CT; and his great grandchildren, Matthew and Shay McGuire. He is also survived by several sisters and brothers.
