James Thomas Bernier Obituary
James Thomas Bernier, beloved husband of 61 years to Adrienne (Nero) Bernier, passed away on Sunday February 2, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born on April 17, 1942, in Norwalk, to the late Joseph and Alma Bernier.
Raised in Norwalk, he attended Norwalk High School and furthered his education attending Devry University for Electrical and Boces College for HVAC. James was a lifelong learner, constantly attending courses over the years for the most up to date information in his field. He was self-employed before joining the Norwalk Hospital as a HVAC foreman 14 years then semi retiring in 1990. For over 40 years he owned and managed their business property on 57 Seaview Avenue in East Norwalk. But he applied his skills to far more than just his profession. No task was beyond his skillset.
In addition to his business property, he owned a home in East Hartford and a cherished 20 acre home in Georgia that he owned for 21 years. He was happy to spend unlimited time enjoying the simple things in life that were synonymous with the small town in Georgia. It was a peaceful and welcome change that he embraced.
James was a special man and a beautiful human being. He was kind and generous, giving not only of his time and resources, but of his heart. He was always ready to lend a hand and put others before himself. He was thoughtful, good natured and intelligent. He was always challenging his mind and had a whole library of puzzles. He was simple in his desires but by far not a simple man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and basset hounds and making every day a special day. He was an avid NY Giants fan, he loved country music and watching westerns especially Gunsmoke.
James was a cherished husband to Adrienne Jacqueline, a proud and loving father to Deborah Anne and James Charles and his fiancée Carrie., much loved brother Harold Bernier and much loved sister in law Doreen, also sisters Mary Hayo and Lorraine Eastman as well as grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
As we remember James, we celebrate a life well lived, a sweet loving man that loved deeply and gave generously. A visitation will be held on Friday. February 14, 2025 from 5 to 8 at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk, CT. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Matthews Church 216 Scribner Ave. Norwalk, CT with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery 223 Richards Ave. Norwalk, CT.
