Ingrid Kurensky Obituary
Ingrid L. Kurensky, a lifelong Norwalk resident, passed away with her family by her side on Monday January 20, 2025. She was the daughter of Edward and Eileen [Nolan] Lindwall born on April 28, 1944. Ingrid was predeceased by her true love and husband of fifty years Steve Kurensky.
Ingrid is survived by her four daughters. "The Kurensky Girls". Kathleen Mitchell [Dennis], Karen Kurensky [ Ken Muro], Kristen Kurensky, and Kate Pickering [Steve]. She was also the proud Gammy of seven grandsons who she adored; Ryan, Shane, Max, Todd, Steven, Jake, and Kole. Her beautiful blue eyes got an extra special sparkle for her only granddaughter Julia. Gammy was thrilled to be known as GREAT Gammy to her cherished brood of great grandchildren! Ingrid was a 1962 graduate of Lauralton Hall High School. She then spent a year attending Western Connecticut College before being swept off her feet and marrying Steve, the love of her life.
Ingrid worked as the intake coordinator at Family and Children's Agency in Norwalk for 28 plus years. A career she embraced and excelled at, being the first line of help to a countless number of individuals and families in need.
Ingrid was and avid and skilled gardener. She thoroughly enjoyed long hours outdoors digging. Her beloved waterfall, fish pond back yard oasis remains a masterful work of art. She also took special joy in creating a "street garden". Decorating and planting for seasons and holidays so all who drove or walked by could enjoy.
She loved Calf Pasture beach, long summer days, and searching out the best lobster rolls with life long friends. Ingrid's true happiness came from time spent with her family being the wonderful matriarch she was.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday January 24th at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue Norwalk. Burial to follow at Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport. Ingrid's family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ingrid's name to Whittingham Cancer Center, 34 Maple Street Norwalk CT 06856. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the exceptional dedication and genuine compassion of Dr. Nicole Carreau and the nursing staff of Whittingham.
