Henry S. Holowinko Sr. Obituary

Henry S. Holowinko Sr., 80, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 19, 2023. He was born in Stamford on January 30, 1943 to the late Stanley and Helen (Niemiez) Holowinko. Henry described his parents as hard workers and good providers.

His father got Henry interested in boating at a young age. When he was just ten years old, he got his first boat, an 11-foot skiff with a 3.5 horsepower motor. Henry would carry the motor from his house, four or five miles to where the skiff was kept at Ponus Yacht Club. He would enjoy the day on the boat and then carry the motor all the way back to his house just to do it again the next day.

Henry graduated from J.M. Wright Tech Vocational School where he was crowned the Wright Tech Push-up Champ and Arm-wrestling Champ. All four years that he was in high school he took electrical shop class which molded him to become an Electronics Technician. He later attended Fairfield University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems (M.I.S.).

After a long career as an Electrical Engineer, Henry decided to get his Coast Guard Master License so he could drive and launch other boats, which he did for another 15 years until he retired again in 2017.

Even with all of these achievements throughout his life, both personally and professionally, the greatest event in his life was January 27, 1975 when his wife Mary Ann gave birth to their son Henry. Above all else, making memories with his family was the most important thing to him.

Henry is survived by his wife Mary Ann, his son Henry, Jr., his brother Ed (Beth Siegelbaum), and nieces Etana Holowinko and Tova Appleson (Jason), two great nieces and a great nephew, and many cousins and friends.

A memorial mass will be held for Henry on Saturday March 25, 2023, 10:30 am, at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd. Norwalk, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jerome Church or The American Cancer Society.
