Giuseppe Libertino Obituary
Giuseppe "Joe" Libertino, 69, of Norwalk, passed away on December 27, 2023 at Norwalk Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Concetta (Girardo) Libertino for over 48 years. Born in Bella di Nicastro, Italy, the son of Rosina (Morgitano) and the late Pasquale Libertino.
Joe came to the U.S. in 1970 at the age of 16, and worked for Caprice Footwear, Howe Furniture, Hatch & Bailey Co. and Pepperidge Farm before starting his own landscaping business. He enjoyed fishing, watching soccer, making wine, getting together with friends at Club Italia, and he cherished spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Connie, children: Rosa and Gregory DeMatteo, Pasquale and Kim Libertino and Antonella and Nick Soumelidis, grandchildren Annabella and Melania DeMatteo, Olivia Libertino, and Michael, Sofia and Zoe Soumelidis, and his siblings, Antonia Torcasio, Salvatore (Palmina) Libertino, Domenico (Gisella) Libertino and Caterina (Pino) Cutri, his brother-in-laws Anthony (Maureen) Girardo, Joseph (Elann) Girardo and sister-in-law Angela (Juan) Lopez, his aunt Norina Chieffalo as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law Frank Torcasio.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4 from 4-8PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Friday, January 5 at St. Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Pl, Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
