Charles Raymond Field Obituary

Charles Raymond Field, age 94 of Redding, died peacefully at Meadow Ridge in Redding on Saturday, February 18, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Joyce Evelyn (Davis) Field, who passed in 2017. Charles was born in Pottersville, New Jersey on August 13, 1928, the son of the late Charles and Emma Field. He was a graduate in Chemical Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in NJ. He retired from Union Carbide where he had worked for many years in both domestic and international sales. He served in the U.S. Army during peacetime and was a former member and past president of the Redding Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf. He played minor league baseball for a short while and was an encyclopedia of knowledge about sports.

Charles is survived by his three loving children, Debbie Hoffmann, Darrell Field and his wife Nancy, and Barbara Field and her partner Margaret Diehl, his grandchildren, Matt Hoffmann and his fianceé Julie Magner, Rachel Crowley and her husband Phil, and Eric Field, as well as 6 nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with Joyce. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Ridgefield RVNA (https://rvnahealth.org).
