Carolyn R. Vertula Obituary

Carolyn "Peachy" Vertula, 82, passed away on February 20, 2023 in Milford after a brief illness. Carolyn was the loving wife of the late Michael "Mickey" Vertula, and was also predeceased by her daughter Deborah. She was born in Stamford, CT on January 14, 1941, to the late George Roxburgh and Marjorie Kellstrom, and retired from Neurology Associates, where she worked for over 35 years.

Carolyn is survived by her children; Gary Vertula of Bridgeport, Carolyn Vertula of Milford, Mike Vertula of Milford and his partner Tara Rousseau, Dana Leibowitz and her husband Danny of Norwalk and Thomas Liberatore and his partner Diane Matheus of Norwalk, granddaughter Stacey Cancelli and great-granddaughter Hayley Cancelli of Bridgeport, as well as her sister Arlene Pond of Trumbull.

Carolyn and Mickey adopted and raised their two baby grandchildren Dana and Thomas after their daughter's passing. They were wonderful parents, and they did an amazing job raising both children. Carolyn would always refer to them as 'her kids', and that is exactly what they were. Altogether, Carolyn and Mickey raised six children…Wow! She would often say "I had a chance to do it all over again and we were blessed with Dana and Thomas.".

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 24 from 11-12 at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk, with graveside services at 12:30 at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave, Norwalk. Memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA (Aspca.org).
