Andrew J. Mantlik Obituary
Andrew J. Mantlik, beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Pajuf) Mantlik, passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2023, at the age of 102. He was born on January 15, 1921, in Hernadszentandras, Hungary to the late Istvan and Zsuzsanna (Smilanszki) Mantlik. They came to the United States when Andrew was 10 years old.
Andrew was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Europe during World War II. He was honored to be a Grand Marshall of the annual Veteran's Day parade in Norwalk in 2019. He loved his career as a meter-reader with CT Light & Power Company, being outdoors and meeting people. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Ladislaus Church. He was proud of his heritage, and perhaps his favorite trip was a return visit (after 70 years) to Hungary he took with his son Frank. He loved to work in his workshop and the yard, always using his hands and his mind. Such activity no doubt played a role in his longevity.
He is survived by his four children: Suzanne Brennan of Lafayette, CA, Arthur Mantlik (wife Angela) of Phoenix, AZ, Frank Mantlik (wife Linda) of Stratford, CT, and Andrew S. Mantlik (wife Betsy) of Phoenix, AZ.; and two grandchildren, Sara and Rachel.
There will be a visitation on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, CT. His funeral service will start promptly at 11:00 followed by burial at St. Johns Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT.
