Amelia Josephine Festa Obituary
Amelia Josephine Festa passed on to heaven Sunday, May 21st, 2023.
Amelia is predeceased by her husband John J. Festa, or "Johnnie" as she affectionately called him. She is survived by her loving children: Carol Festa, Salvatore and Linda Festa, John and Carolyn Festa; and her grandchildren: Sarah and Joe Tracz, Ashley and Brain Gerosa, Becky and Chuck Babson, John Paul Festa, and Catherine Festa; as well as three great grandchildren Amelia, Charlie and Anthony.
Born October 26, 1926, Amelia was the youngest of six siblings and was fondly called "Babe" or "Aunt Babe" by all who knew and loved her. A daughter of Italian immigrants, she was raised Roman Catholic and held true to her religious beliefs all her life. Amelia's (Babe's) unwavering faith provided her strength and comfort. She was a quiet, gentle soul, but was not to be underestimated in the courage of her convictions. She listened with kindness, and offered insight that was short, thoughtful and to the point. With her considerate nature and sensitivity to others, Babe constantly put others' concerns and worries before her own.
In her home was where she thrived: cooking, baking, and caring for family. Her meat sauce was homemade, and her eggplant unmatched by any other Italian cook in or outside the family. In the company of her loved ones was her favorite place to be. When her sisters, spouse, children and grandchildren were all in the nest her sparkling blue eyes reflected the love in her heart.
Babe had a silky smooth soprano voice and could often be heard humming the melody of her favorite song, "Ave Maria". How fitting that this humble woman of God would live her way through life with this humble Catholic prayer in her heart.
Her family will receive friends on Wed., May 24 from 4-8 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, at St. Mary Church, 669 West Avenue, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
