He was predeceased by: his wife Caroline S. Palumbo; his parents, Fredrick Palumbo and Mildred Palumbo; his siblings, William (Catherine Palumbo) and Catherine Greco (Dan); his siblings-in-law, Wayne Bennett and Mary Lane; his daughter MaryAnn; and his cousins, Clara and Carlo DiMeglio.

He is survived by: his children, Joanie (David) and Al "Flip" Palumbo, Jr. (Noreen); his grandchildren, Kelly Graham (Jason), Christian Webster, Tommy Palumbo and Mattie Palumbo; his siblings, Ralph (Carol Palumbo) and Louise Bennett; and his cousins, Anna Richter, Catherine Verda and Fred Palumbo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Many years later, in 2013, he received the Mike Errico Award for his contributions to the Norwalk Sports community.
