He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Paul Scudder Smith and Mary Starr Conger Smith; his siblings, Mary Starr Adams and Ted Smith; his wife Helen Willis; his children, David Smith and Sherri Smith Baggett; his son-in-law Scott Baggett; his grandsons, Benjamin and Gregory Smith; and his grandchild-in-law Judd Baggett. He was also cherished by friends.
In 2006, the Antiques Dealers Association of America (ADA) honored Scudder with its Award of Merit for his contribution to the industry that has been substantially shaped by Antiques and The Arts Weekly.
