He is survived by: his wife Jennifer McGowan (Johnson); his children, Ryan and Reagan; his siblings, Kathleen McGowan (Dan Martin), Ann Thomas (Adam) and Michael McGowan (Kelly); his nieces and nephews, Nathan, Jeremy Marks, Jonas Martin (Tiffany), Thomas and Sara McGowan; his father-in-law Roland Johnson; his sister-in-law Jennifer Win-Johnson; his nieces and nephews, Cooper, Gunnar, Maya and Ava Johnson; and his close friends, Pat Farrell, Ken Godfrey, Rich Colbert and Bill Petry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joe's name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or The Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation and Animal Sanctuary in Sandy Hook, CT.
