We are sad to announce that on March 27, 2023 we had to say goodbye to Barbara Ellen Vassar of Newington, Connecticut, born in Springfield, Massachusetts. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Leo Benhard and Grace Katherine Benhard (Duffy); her sister Alberta Canavan (Benhard); and her daughter-in-law Susan Vassar. She is survived by: her caregiver Carol Vassar (Tim Helmecki) of Plainville; her sons, William (Bill), Jim Vassar of Pensacola and Richard Vassar (Carol); her grandchildren, Raymond Medina (Crystal), Blair Vassar, Shenandoah Pettit (Alejandro), Savannah Pettit, Katie Vassar, Shea Gomez (Anthony), Joseph Vassar, Nathaniel Pettit, Luke Vassar and Emily Lehmkuhl (Seth); and her great grandchildren, Maxwell Vassar, Jasmine Medina and Lyra Avalos. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Because Barbara was particularly fond of cats, those wishing to donate in her memory are asked to do so to their chosen cat or animal rescue.
