He is survived by: his spouse Hannelore Biewald (Schruff); his parent Frieda Biewald (Anlauf); his sons, Horst (Linda) of Hamden, Karl (Susan) of Naugatuck, Rainer of Naugatuck and Frank (Heather) of Oxford; and his siblings, Adolf Biewald, Ruth Richter of Germany and Marianne Westcott of England. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

“He was my great grandfather. He was so kind to me. I went to see him once or twice a week when I went to see my grandfather, Rainer, who was his caregiver for as long as I can remember. I miss the years when he could do many things. He once walked all along his street in slippers with just his walker for support. He was just such a nice person, and I am so glad to have found this obituary. His funeral was just filled with love from all of the family members.”
