With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gertie P. McKeithan Hightower (New Haven, Connecticut), born in Portsmouth, Virginia, who passed away on February 22, 2025 at the age of 69. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Gertie may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Gertie touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Margaret McKeithan and Jessie James McKeithan; and her siblings, Bernard, James, Jerry McKeithan and Annette Pennington.
She is survived by: her sisters, Lunette Stephenson-Watson, Margaret Garrett and Barbara McCoy. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends will.
