He was predeceased by: his siblings, Leonard and Ursula. He is survived by: his wife Trudy; his children, Timothy Nelson (Ziony) of St. Petersburgh, FL, Shannon, Eric and Thomas Nelson (Stacey) of Mechanicsville, VA; his grandchildren, Zoe and Kyra; his daughter Lisa Handfield (Robert); and his grandson Andrew of East Lyme. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a grandnephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, 37 Squire St., New London, CT 06320; or to Center for Hospice Care, 179 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
