He was predeceased by: his father William Payton; and his uncles, Jessie Pittman, Joe Payton, Sam Payton, Robert Pittman, Boyd Pittman and Emerson Pittman.
He is survived by: his mother Edna Pittman; his nieces, Bonisha Gomes (California) and Sharthia Bradley (New Haven); his goddaughter Mirikal Radford (New Haven); his aunts, Mary Moody (New Haven) and Haduna Vaughn of Washington, D. C.; his uncle Garland Pittman; and also, Geraldine Arrington, Gwendolyn Ragland of Rocky Mount, NC, Cynthia Boddie of Rocky Mount, NC, Deborah Whitaker of Enfield, NC, Katrina Pittman of Durham, NC, Rosa and Mary Mack of Enfield, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
