She was predeceased by: her sisters, Judith Hartley Nash and Jeanne Hartley Anderson. She is survived by: her husband Robert Bates (Bob); and also Gretty (Gretchen Ghormley). She is also survived by her sons (and their wives) Jonathan (Elizabeth) of Greenwich, CT, Peter (Kristine) of Sylva, NC, and Douglas (Helene) of Southport, CT, along with seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
