He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Szafran and Katarzyna Szafran (Major); and his brother Hryhorij Major of Poland. He is survived by: his sons, Bohdan Szafran (Bohdanna) of Killingworth, CT and Mark Szafran (Debra) of New Hartford, CT.; his sister Ruzia Rafalski of Myczkow, Poland.; his grandchildren, Daria Warycha, Stephanie Szafran, Michael Szafran, Jessica Szafran, Larysa Wordingham and Alexander Szafran; and his great grandchildren, Matthew Warycha, Luke Warycha and Peter Warycha.
Memorial donations may be made in Michal's memory to St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church.
