It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maria Torrella (New Britain, Connecticut), born in Brooklyn, New York, who passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Hemerejildo Sierra and Maria Asuncion (Vazquez); her siblings, Tato, Roy, Joaquin, Fela and Hortencia; her children, Olga and Almando; and her grandchildren, Margaret and Bobby.
She is survived by: her children, Angel Ortiz, Nellie Rosa, Lucy Ortiz, Abe Hernandez (Carmen), Sandra Rios (Felix), Robert Ortiz (Ruth), Belinda Sierra and Carmen King (Angelo); and her brother Daniel Sierra. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes (332 Burritt St, New Britain, CT 06053). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the St. Mary Cemetery (1141 Stanley St, New Britain, CT 06053).
