With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Margaret Shorter of New Britain, Connecticut, born in Creedmoor, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her father Silas Thomas Jones; her stepfather Major Taylor; her son Mohrmon David Nickson, Jr.; her sister Janie Marie Taylor; and her grandson Terrawne Nickson.
She is survived by: her husband Randall Patterson Shorter, Jr.; her mother Josephine Taylor (Winston); her children, Maureen D. Nickson of Bloomfield, Josephine Marie Nickson of Hartford, Michael Antoine Nickson of Torrington and Corey L. Nickson (Kimberly) of Manchester; her grandchildren, Rayshonda Mitchell (Tyrone) of Stamford, Diane Oten (Robert) of Hartford, Travon Nickson (Candia) of Bloomfield, Yinickreea Desirea Branch (Albert) of Windsor, Cornelius "Trea" Roberts, III of East Hartford, Shaneall Flowers (Antonio) of Winter Garden, FL, Tariq Nickson-Kanhai of Hartford, Tajon Nickson of Hartford, Michael A. Nickson, Jr. of Vernon, Brandon Johnson-Nickson of Willimantic, Jeremy Nickson of Port Charlotte, FL, Arihanna Spadola of Waterbury, Corey Nickson of Manchester, Jayden Nickson of Manchester, Aubree Williams of Mebane, NC and Christopher Soltau of Bloomfield; and her nephew Major Glen Farrish of Bronx, NY. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church (45 Daly Ave, New Britain, CT 06051). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM and at 1:00 PM. A repast was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Elks Lodge (24 Elm St, New Britain, CT 06051).
