He was predeceased by: his parents, James McCarthy and Helen McCarthy; his wife Joan McCarthy; and his brother Eugene (Joan).

In keeping with Bill's kindhearted nature, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the ASPCA in lieu of flowers, as a tribute to Bill's lifelong love for animals.
