He was predeceased by: his parents, John Nixon and Madeline Nixon; his siblings, John, Richard, Irving, David, Louis, Terrence Nixon, Mary Nixon Shank and Ann Nixon Carmody; and his son David John Nixon.
He is survived by: his spouse Betsey Smith Nixon; his children, Howard J. Nixon Jr., Ellen B. Nixon Mancuso (Richard Mancuso), Sheila W. Nixon and Timothy G. Nixon (Lisa Sansone); and his brother Kevin. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
