He was predeceased by: his wife Lila Hartley (Higbee); his parents, John Hartley and Eva Mae Hartley (Crandall); and his son-in-law Wayne Russell. He is survived by: his children, John Hartley of Mystic, William Hartley (Melanie) of Groton, Linda Russell of Bradford, RI., Nancy Hartley (Karen) of Hampton, CT., Donald Hartley (Cindy) of Stonington and James Hartley (Judy) of Port Ritchie, FL. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
