He was predeceased by: his wife Rosemarie G. "Ro" DeFelice Cioppa; his parents, Anthony Cioppa and Amelia Scioscia Cioppa; his sister Connie Balter; and his brother-in-law Joseph Lenzen Sr..

He is survived by: his children, Stephen Cioppa, Jr. of Ansonia and Gina Cimbak (Jerome) of Milford; his grandchildren, Brian Cimbak (Rachel) of Shelton, Cara Kardian (John) of Thornwood, NY, James and Matthew Cioppa of Milford; his great grandchildren, Amelia, Adeline and Stephen; his daughter-in-law Darlene Cioppa of Milford; his sister Marie Lenzen (Rob D'Ottavio) of Darien; his brother-in-law Joseph DeFelice (Jane) of Monroe; his nephews, Christopher Lenzen (Veronica) of Trumbull, Joseph Lenzen Jr. (Joanne) of Southbury and William "Billy" Scovin (Connie); and his niece Sharon Fedak (Frank) of Monroe.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home (419 White Plains Rd, Trumbull, CT 06611). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Ann Church (501 Naugatuck Ave, Milford, CT 06460). A burial was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Kings Highway Cemetery (271 Cherry St, Milford, CT 06460).

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel To Towers Foundation, 2361 Hyman Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
