He is survived by : his wife Maria Schmidtke; his sons, David Herbert Schmidtke and his wife Jennifer, Alex Georg Schmidtke and Peter Josef Schmidtke; his grandchildren, Jeremiah, Sammy, Kayla and Eden; and his brother Paul Schmidtke.
