He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

“I remember meeting Chet Calcote (and the rest of his family) back in the 1970s while I was in Jr. High. I thought they were awesome then and still do after 40 years! I have remained in contact with Chet's son Mike and consider him my best friend. He told me a lot of stories about Chet's life as a musician with his own television show and playing bass fiddle with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. My condolences to Maureen, Ella, Mike, and Jon. I know you and many others will miss him.”
