He was predeceased by: his wife Dolores P; his parents, Niels Howard and Florence Nielsen (Guile); his son Robert D. Nielsen; and his siblings, Howard, Roger and Betty.
He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Nelson (Stephen), Bonnie Emanuele (Salvatore) and Scott Nielsen (Lorraine). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
