It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joe Bennett Jr. of Middletown, Connecticut, born in Gatesville, North Carolina, who passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Anna Louise Bennett (Gomes); his siblings, Charlie Henry Freeman, Leerma Bennett-Holmes, William G Bennett and James Lee Bennett; and his daughter Yolanda Langlois.
He is survived by: his children, Ellsworth Charles Morehead (Rose) of Middletown, Brenda Carr of Florida, Charlene Simmons (Kevin) of Middletown, Joseph Bennett III of Middletown, Lisa Bennett of Cromwell and Saundra Bennett (Melvin Hill) of Middletown; his sister Joan Cane of Waterbury; and his grandson James King. He is also survived by 34 great grandchildren, 30 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Shiloh Baptist Church (346 Butternut St, Middletown, CT 06457). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
