He is survived by: his son Matthew Carrano Jr. of Middlebury. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren.

In the 1970s, he brought this expertise to Waterbury Hospital, where he conducted vital tests to determine when babies could be delivered safely, making a lasting contribution to maternal and infant health in the community.
