Perrella (Middlebury, Connecticut), born in Jessup, Pennsylvania, who passed away at the age of 82, on February 25, 2018. Loving wife, mother, grandmother & sister" Geraldine A. (Poveromo) Perrella, 82, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the VITAS Unit at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Andrew V. Perrella for 61 years. Geraldine was born on November 24, 1935 in Jessup, PA a daughter of the late Sesto and Jennie (Nanni) Poveromo.
She graduated from Wilby High School, Class of 1953. For many years, she worked as an assistant to the principal for the Regional School District 15 in Middlebury before retiring. She was on the Commission on Aging for Middlebury and was the secretary for the Middlebury Garden Club. Geraldine volunteered for the St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen making sandwiches and for the St. John of the Cross Church Rosary Society making quilts.
She was a great cook and knitter. She loved watching the UConn Women's Basketball Team and spending time in Cape Cod with her family. Besides her husband of Middlebury, she leaves her sons, Michael Perrella and his wife, Alison of Bedford, NH, Paul Perrella and his wife, Joyce of Middlebury, daughter, Christine Spagnoli and her husband, Matt of Westbury, NY, sisters, Ida Byram of Waterbury, Donna Adamski of Kissimmee, FL, brother, Joseph Poveromo and his wife, Rose of Wolcott, grandchildren, Catie, Andrew, David, Gina and Samantha and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Henry Poveromo. Arrangements: Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT to St. John of the Cross Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Elise Cemetery, Middlebury.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Geraldine's name to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
