Mary Daugherty Abrams Obituary

She was predeceased by: her parents, Kenneth H. Daugherty and Mary M. Daugherty; and her sister Kathleen Allgaier. She is survived by: her husband Jim Abrams of Meriden; her children, Madeline Thomas (John) of Wakefield and Nicholas Abrams (Ana Daniela Acosta) of Bradenton; her grandchildren, Rose Thomas, Marley Thomas, Henry Abrams and Marcelo Abrams; her brothers, Kenneth M. Daugherty and Thomas Daugherty; and her brother-in-law David Allgaier.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home (88 E Main St, Meriden, CT 06450). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Church (177 W Main St, Meriden, CT 06451). After her retirement, and much to the surprise of her family and friends, Mary ran for the state Senate, where she served with distinction for two terms as the Senate Chair of the Public Health Committee during the first years of the COVID pandemic.
