He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Palermo and Betty Jean Palermo (Corby); and his sister Judy Giddings. He is survived by: his daughter Amy Grace; his grandchildren, Syd St. Onge, Jacob Marcel Palermo, Sean Michael Smith and Alasdair James Stewart; his wife Patti Palermo of Litchfield; his children, Sarah Smith (Michael) of East Hartland, Nathan Palermo (Soulinda) of Niantic, Sara Pyne Stewart (Aidan) of Hamden and Christopher Palermo; his nephews, Joe Giddings and Dean Giddings; his niece Dianna Krumwiede; and his brother-in-law Fred Giddings.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Litchfield Housing Trust, Oliver Wolcott Library Children's Department, Save the Music – funding school music programs for children.
