He is survived by: his brothers, Victor Cholewa, Steven Cholewa and Sonny Cholewa; his wife Laura Cholewa (Rose); his children, Walter Cholewa Jr. (Tammy Cholewa) and Karen Cholewa; his stepdaughter Shari Flounders; and his grandchildren, Jolene Bourque, Philip Fernandes, Crystal Cholewa and Scott Cholewa. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
