He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Smith and Gertrude Smith (Thomas); his siblings, Stephen Smith, Charlotte Kenyon and Barbara Dreczko; and his granddaughter Jenna.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Smith (Martell); his children, George E. Smith, Jr. (Jill) of Canterbury, John W. Smith (Jessica) of Canterbury and Jamie Smith (Dan Garcia) of Griswold; his siblings, Albert Smith of Westerly, RI, Thomas Smith of North Kingstown, RI, Bruce Smith of Redwood Falls, MN, Debbie Smith of Wakefield, RI, Pamela Smith of Massena, NY, Jean Smith of Richmond, RI and Cheryl Smith Wicklund of Charlestown, RI; and his grandchildren, Gianna, Jacob, Gabrielle and Lincoln. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In view of the present health risks due to COVID-19, a private graveside service will be held at White Brook Cemetery in Richmond, RI.
