He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Sweeney and Anna Connors Sweeney; and his siblings, Edward, James, John, Mary, Helen, Catherine, Peggy and Anne.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy L. Sweeney (Moran) of Hebron; his sons, Michael Sweeney (Cathy) and Edward Sweeney (Donna); his grandchildren, Laura Sweeney (Dan Michaud), Molly Prospect (Dan Prospect), Michael Sweeney and Matthew Sweeney; his great grandchild Patrick Prospect; and his sister Eileen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship has been set up in Michael's name to support a graduating football player at Stratford High School who embodies his spirit.
