He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Nancy A. Getschmann; his parents, Ernst Getschmann and Ella Getschmann (Kutzner); his children, Robert A. Getschmann of Exeter, NH and Sharon P. Mason of Honeoye Falls, NY; his brother Dieter Getschmann (Germany) of Braunschweig; and his grandchildren, Sarah L. Getschmann, Megan L. Getschmann, Colten J. Getschmann, Jessica Mason and Madeline Mason.
