He was predeceased by: his parents, James Brookhart and Hazel Brookhart (Fiscus). He is survived by: his children, Lizabeth Brookhart of Tega Cay and Rhys Brookhart of Tucson, Arizona; and his siblings, Jane Waggoner (Marion) of Landenberg, Pennsylvania and John Brookhart (Sandra) of Sumner, Illinois.. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
